Places to Stay in Delaware in Your RV

Delaware may not be as flashy a state a
s New York or California, but it is a great place to vacation nonetheless. The First State is small, but has a lot to offer travelers. Families who travel here will discover the wonders of the Chesapeake Bay, as well as the many historical sites and spots that are hidden throughout the state. Delaware is often used as a gateway to other states that are south of or north of it, so traveling here in your recreational vehicle is a great way to get a feel for the state.

There are several different Delaware RV facilities that are available to stay at (some seasonally) while you explore this state. Many of these facilities are located in the southern part of the state, or Sussex County. This part of the Mid Atlantic is perfect for summer vacations, because of the ideal climate combined with the coastline making a great beach destination. Towns and cities like Rehoboth-Dewey, Lewes and Bethany-Fenwick offer tourists the beauty of the ocean while being in a relatively inexpensive l
ocation (Delaware is even totally tax-free!).

At the Cape Henlopen State Park (located in Lewes, Delaware), there are plenty of activities to keep outdoorspeople happy. It also happens to house one of the RV facilities located in the region. There are 139 family RV sites located here, all with water hookups, as well as other amenities. While rather bare-bones compared to RV parks in some other areas of the United States, these RV spots offer campers a true outdoor experience, without all of the frills of other parks. A small snack bar is available for food concession and bait and tackle, and the fishing area here is great for catching your own dinner.

Another facility located in southern Delaware is the Steamboat Landing RV Park, also in Lewes, Delaware. This park is privately owned, and a bit more full featured than the RV spots located within state parks. Steamboat Landing is open between May 1 and October 1 each year, and offers a pool, general store and large lots which can accommodate both your RV and a boat (there is a marina on premises). The park offers a seasonal rate as well as a nightly and weekly rate for rental, and there are different areas available for long term and short term tenants.

Staying in Delaware can be an unexpected adventure waiting to happen. With miles of coastline great for fishing, boating and crabbing, as well as historical significance; staying at one of the Delaware RV facilities will be sure to make a memorable family trip.
