Personal Goal Setting Key Points

It doesn?t matter if you wish to climb Mount Everest or purchase the house of your dreams, even the largest and sometimes most far-fetched of personal goals can be achieved. For some, it simply means a matter of establishing several smaller plans and
tasks that will bring them close to the things they wish to receive from life achievements.

It is a good idea to break down sizeable lifetime goals into bite-size pieces of actions and effort that can be easily swallowed and digested on a daily basis. Soon, in time, you will be full of knowledge, as well as steps closer to realizing your main lifetime goals.

But there are a few important factors to consider when you are ready to embark on the journey of goal setting. Below are a few key points to pay attention to after setting a few goals:

1) The more clearly defined and specific your goals are set, the better the outcome will be when it comes to achievement. A sense of pride is allowed to take over our primary actions as we strive to reach more and more checkpoints towards obtaining our personal goals. Confidence levels skyrocket, which in turn increases the feeling that there is no stopping your progress.

2) The more momentum you
gain towards your goals, the quicker you can begin to reap the benefits, but never rush the process of goal setting and achieving. Individuals should also keep this process from becoming a forced journey. If you really don?t want it and are motivated to please others, the satisfaction and feelings of accomplishments will not make you happy.

All of this occurs because you are not living out your own personal plans. For those who have a habit of rushing through life, you really miss out on important details and opportunities that could make achieving your goals much easier or more beneficial in the long run.

3) Another key to goal setting includes establishing several different plans that range in various time completion deadlines. Create progressively larger goals that are spread out over plans set for one month, six months, one year or maybe five. Some individuals have also been known to plan ahead for what they wish to accomplish over a 10-year span of time. All of this allows you to view the things ahead of you that should be achieved in order to realize dreams and goals.

People who ignore this key point often stray from the path that will lead them towards success and achievement. Often, one is able to build a life filled with no regret because they, at least, set out to take control of their life on their own terms.

4) Start slowly when setting goals. It is rather daunting to think that you will be able to run a Fortune 500 company in three months. This is a lifetime goal that takes many, many baby steps to inch your way up the corporate ladder and can take many years. With hard work, diligence and a steady plan, this goal is not unattainable. The more patience you exhibit often leads to you seeing your way through this process.

5) Cheating your way through achieving your goals or taking short cuts is one way to bypass true and lasting happiness. These actions feel good for the moment, but will most likely surface as empty achievements. It?s kind of like training for the Olympics and then taking steroids to achieve your goals. You may step onto the podium with a medal, but at what cost? Steroids helped you along the way and all of your hard training takes a backseat to the chemicals controlling your overall performance. Even though you have the medal in hand, would you really be happy?

6) Information is key when it comes to goal setting. There are plenty of resources, books and other places to gather info that is needed to realize your dreams and achieve goals. Heading for the library and doing a bit of research makes you a better prepared goal setter and achiever.

7) Goal setting is a constant work in progress that may call for constant review and revision. Your ?to-do? lists for months and years ahead of time could change at the drop of a hat depending on how well you navigate your course of action.
