Vrolok ~ Book Review

Do you love a vampire tale that swallows you whole and you disappear in it for days at a time? Then Vrolok is the book for you. I am not kidding ? I disappeared for about 10 hours the day I began this review project? and completed the book the next mo
rning. Already, this epic adventure has received raving reviews in the industry. The cover design for this durable, hardcover novel is simply beautiful. Environmentalists will be pleased that Vrolok is printed on acid-free paper. Vrolok's 424-pages will take the reader on a journey they won't soon forget.

The main character, Isabella is a young Slovak girl who is intrigued by the abandoned castle near her village ? not because she hopes to find some valuable item, but instead because she seeks the wonders of a large library. Often a strange and protective wolf accompanies her and she learns to be unafraid of him as time goes on. Vlad is the second main character and is the key to Isabella?s adventures. Their long life provides a haunting view into the pain the characters endure while watching their errors grow into fruition.

Author Nolene-Patricia Dougan is one of the best writers I have had the pleasure to review. Her work artfully entwines hundreds of years
of human history, touching upon selected eras and intriguing historical figures including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, Countess Bathory, Napoleon Bonaparte and Prince Vlad Dracula, among many others. Mrs. Dougan goes much farther than most authors in that she defines the origins of terms that are used to describe a person, event or a time.

I don?t want to tell you much about the book ? I?m afraid of spoiling it for you. I can tell you that I?d recommend it anytime, anywhere to vampire enthusiasts and Anne Rice fans as well. You won?t find explicit sex scenes and the gore is kept down to a bare minimum in this tale. While romantic situations play a key role in the plot, the book would not likely be classified as a romance. I loved the paranormal twists, the interplay between fact and fiction. Buy this book ? I think you will love it!
