Being Healthy in 2007It is over a week through February and perhaps in the spirit of Chinese New Year, I am reaffirming a New Years Resolution; Being Healthy in 2007. But before I make an aimless statement, I think it is important to define what I mean when I say, I wantI think it goes beyond eating healthy, by meaning living healthy. A conscious decision to look at my life and see where I can be healthier; is it in my eating habits, my family, my career, my mental health, my emotional health, or any other aspects of my life that I can improve with hopes of bettering my overall well being. For myself, the best place for me to begin was to start the Sabaidi Health Blog. It allows me to actively research health tips, herbal remedies, recipes, and incorporate them into my life so I can write about them and most importantly benefit from them. So far the theme has been ways that I can change my life for the positive with minimal inconvenience. Adding new foods such as curry, drinking more tea, eating healthier snacks, etc. I am making an effort to go back to the gym after an extended holiday vacation, and get my physical strength and cardiovascular back to where I want them to be. When I can not mak But as I continue to look for new topics to write about, I quickly realize that a Health Blog should be about more than just food. Eating the write foods are important, but if other aspects of my life are sick, then I am sick. I have been taking a look at my family, and trying to find ways to spend more time with them; or at least have the time I spend with them be more quality time than it has been. With recent problems in my extended family, I have been forced to look at who in my life really matters; and do what I can to keep them close. I have been testing my patience as I am making more of an effort to teach my 6 year old son his alphabet and math; fueling his strengths and acknowledging and doing everything I can think of to strengthen his weaknesses. I have been using cartoons and toys as rewards instead of expectations. If he does good he can watch cartoons, otherwise he can not. If he does not clean up his toys I take them, only to give them back when he continues to keep he toys in order. It is difficult to be the Bad Guy sometimes, but sometimes I think it is needed. While trying to do this, I have been working hard to take Sabaidi to the next level. I have been learning what I need to learn to get where I am going, and trying to maintain a sense of balance in myself. It is not easy, but the rewards are worth it for myself and family. A small sacrifice now will pay off for us all. For me, Being Healthy is about more than just food, and physical health, but about everything. All aspects of my life are important in their own way, and I have been trying to prioritize them, and act accordingly. I will try to maintain balance in all that I do, and use Moderation as my mantra.
