Automation Station: Is An Automated Business Really Possible?

It seems that there are automated businesses popping up all over the internet these days. Claims like make $1000, $3000 $10,000 per day! with no calling, no answering questions, no selling, no phone calls at all etc are everywhere. Are these just e
mpty promises that are being thrown about so easily?

At first glance, they seem to be well thought out. However, there are a lot of plans that look good on paper but do not pan out when put into action. And often there is one key word that is left out or ignored that will absolutely make or break an at home online venture - marketing.

The problem with most home businesses is that very few people really know how to market them, so when you hear of these automated wonders that require no work but bring in boatloads of money, people readily open their wallets and let their hard-earned cash fly out.

What they are not told, is that in order to get the automation to kick in, one has to get their site in front of people, or, market it. Most of the time, after the point of purchase, no one knows what to do, and sometimes if one does they are not willing to share.

So -- pay attention now -- the new guy listens to the last guy wh
o listens to their upline who got bits and pieces from an outdated e-book and has no idea what he is doing -- ok, breath here -- and everyone ends up hitting wall after wall and wondering why. I believe it was Jim Rohn who said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and getting the same result but continuing to do it anyway?

So, in the spirit of finding some answers about what these "automated home businesses" are all about, here are a few of the big ones that are out there today.

Emerald Passport is one business advertised all over the place as automated. There is an online presentation connected with this home business that tells you about the comp plan graphically and spills out some pretty impressive numbers. (That's the automated part).

Once people see the movie and opt-in (or fill out the boxes and ask for more information), the owner of the site has to call these people back and give a scripted presentation on how Emerald Passport will change their lives. For someone who is new to the internet or not particularly good at sales, this may not be the best option. You still have to MARKET, which is totally glazed over.

The 1 Step System is another one flying around that supposedly spits out $500 checks to the owner. Actually, the 1 Step system is aimed at the internet newbie or veterans to home business who lost their shirt elsewhere.

1Step involves marketing your site (there's that word again) to get prospects who you send to a conference call where the owners of the business close them for you. However, at the end of the call, they do say get back to the person who sent you here, so you do have to talk to people. Once again, so much for the automation idea.

The closest thing to automation that was found was Coastal's Automated Sales System. Although, again, you have to market your site, this is the only system that spells out in black and white that you will have to market your site in order to make any money. The automation starts after someone opts in to the website.

There is an online movie presentation that does the explaining, and then the tour describes the packages available. If someone requests a 'callback', then a professional closer closes all sales, and there truly are no call backs! and no prospecting! to do yourself. So, in essence, the sales process itself is automated, and makes the Automated Sales System true to its word.

All in all if you choose a business that requires talking to people, selling, and closing, make sure you are comfortable with that before you get started rather than practicing that skill after you've paid. And always, always remember that if a system says you will do nothing and still make money, run the other way as fast as you can!
