Using UK Job Sites For Graduate Employment

The rise of the Internet throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and the world has meant a revolution in the way graduates find their next job. Companies are flocking to this next generation of technology, with eighty percent of recruiting agencies in
the United Kingdom now utilizing web sites to draw in graduates. The reasons why agency and job web sites have sprung up over the last five years are obvious. Technology has made the graduate job search more easy and interactive, allowing graduates the opportunity to speak to recruiters directly via online chat. As well, graduates are now able to filter out jobs based on various criteria including starting wage, job title, and company names. With companies going en masse toward online applications and recruiting, graduates need to become familiar with UK job sites in order to stay on the cutting edge.

Graduates need to utilize several resources while using UK job sites. With job listings, a company will often include a link to a job description and the company website. Looking at the job description link will help clarify the more general descriptions given on a job site. As well, looking at the company website can help clarify a graduate?s interest in the open position. Al
ong with researching specific companies, graduates can use comparison tools on job sites to determine the best job options for them. With these comparison tools, graduates can put information on wages, benefits, and job responsibilities for several jobs side by side.

While UK job sites are great resources for graduates, those new to the online job hunt need to be aware that job sites are like any other company. Businesses pay job sites to place their open positions listings, which means that companies with questionable backgrounds may be advertising on the Web. Graduates need to be aware that listings that offer temporary to permanent work may be poorly worded language for contract work that has little chance of leading to a career path. As well, job listings without sufficient background information on the hiring company should send up red flags. Finally, graduates need to be leery of job listings that don?t give specific wage and benefit information. A listing without any of the three pieces of information mentioned above should be avoided by graduates. Job sites throughout the UK are great resources for the difficult job hunt for graduates, but as with any information on the Internet, users should beware scams and misleading advertisements.
