Design methods as walls in the printing prisonIn the printing industry, creativity is one of the things that should kept changing and evolving. With the many designs and styles already done, it is quite certain that you want your work to at least have a lasting impact to the people. Your design method should remove the need to check every now and then if everything has been covered. It also allows you to be consistent. This is very helpful if you want to create something that is inherently you. It should have your signature. Design methods gives your clients an impression that you are well-organized and has set aside some time for their work to done properly. Lastly, one of the unknown purposes of design method is simply because it gives you some rules to break. The digital age has brought with them less and less rules to follow. In the first pla In the old days of printing, people have to work out the complexity of CMYK, RGB and Pantone just to get the desired print they wanted. There was refresh or undo buttons they can use if ever they would want to try and change something. And there was also no edit and save button. But with the digital technologies of today, these problems are history. Everything can be done by click. The Leaning Tower of Pisa can be "unleaned" today. Mona Lisa can be made to laugh. In other words, every seemingly flaw in the prints, drawing and designs are perfected by just clicking. That is the absence of methods in the digital age to you. Absolute freedom. But with this freedom comes a price. It is scary to think that there is nothing can grab hold on to anymore. Absence of methods to follow, and break, is like grabbing at an empty space. It sure is easier if you have something to serve as a backbone especially in the printing world that is getting complicated by the minute. Just think of it this way.
