However, graduates will find that by meeting just a few people outside of their department, they are creating a more familiar atmosphere in the workplace. Whether it is a quick hello or a chat before heading for home, expanding a colleague base in the workplace is never a bad idea.

Whether it is instant messaging, emails, or phone calls, every worker has a particular preference when it comes to communicating with colleagues. During the course of chats and meetings, graduates should take note of any pet peeves that colleagues may have about a particular communication method. Learning personal communication preferences can help make the job easier for graduates.
