get all your bank charges for the last 6 years repaid, office of fair trading rules charges illegalThe Office of Fair Trading in the UK struck a huge blow for the 'little guy and the little gal' in the UK have stated that the enormous Bank chares levied by the Big Banks are Iillegal. This briefly is because as a customer you agree to enter into a '*Generally the level of 'reasonable charges' for the work involved in sending a (often automated) letter is only around £2.50 so you can easily see where their profits are coming from. So how does an individual challenge this? Well its not easy in the sense that the Bank drag their heels and use every delaying tactic and forms of 'scaremongering' to keep your money that has been pillaged from your account illegally to not pay you back. *Well firstly if you have not kept all your bank statements you must ask them for your statements over the past 6 years (5 in Scotland) This cost me £5 (some banks charge £10 the maximum allowed) *Unless you are one of those people who keep plenty of money in their current account then you may get a hell of a shock when you add them all up - i certainly did they were t *The various stages you will need to go through are too lengthy to give all the details on here but in general you will need to a) write and ask the bank for a refund - fat chance there! b) inform them once again that the charges are illegal and you will get a 'standard reply' giving all kinds of reasons why there 'charges are 'transparent' and all sorts of other padding c) now is time to 'bare teeth' and tell them that the next step would be to take them to a 'small claims court' - as long as you are not claiming more than £5000. You will get all kinds of stuff coming back, but in the end you can take them all the way.
