The 2006 US Open was the only tournament where I believe TIger was not mentally prepared to compete and he subsequently missed the cut. The US Open is one of the most mentally gruelling tournament to play due to the extreme playing conditions the USGA imposes on the players. 5. He is hottest of the top five World Ranked player in the world. He has been in the top 10 in over 80% of the tournaments he has played in this year. Where as Jim Furyk has a top ten percentage of 30%, 36% for Phil Mickelson, 28.5% for Adam Scott and 12.5% for Ernie Els. Of these Top 5 golfers Tiger leads the new Fed Ex Cup Points with 16,598 points in 6 event while his closest competitor is Phil Mickelson 10,868 points who has played 11 events. One omission from the top five was the fact that he missed the cut last year. Which was the first cut he has missed at a major tournament since he turned professional. Will he win?
