10 Reasons Why You Don't Make Full Time Income on eBay

1. You don't have a high demand product to sell

The number one reason why many people fail at eBay is they lack a short supply product to sell. While many eBay store owners sell pre-bought products or conduct business via dropshipping, th
e average eBay seller has a short supply of inventory to market. If you fall into this category, you may try eBay affiliate marketing instead.

2. You try to sell your products, instead of building trust

Business is all about trust; sure, everyone is selling Apple iPods, but I want to know why I should buy an iPod for you. You will find that many eBay sellers sell items at comparable prices, yet there's a specific group of sellers that receives the bulk of the orders. These sellers built trust with their customers, and when your customers trust you, they buy from you as well.

3. Your products are out-of-date

The internet is always changing, and so does the supply-demand for certain retail items. It's best to capitalize on high demand products and sell them for profits while the iron is hot. Once the demand falls out, you will see your profit margins begin to shrink. That's when you liquidate your inventory to prevent future los
ses, and move on to the next product.

4. You Sell Too Many Things

eBay stores/affiliates that offer multiple niches products tend to confuse visitors. Usually they came to your store looking for a specific niche product, so give it to them. Avoid mixing sports items with tech gear, retail clothing with candles, well you get the picture.

5. You didn't market your products

Generally buzz around your eBay business is a great way to lure in return customers. Provide articles on your eBay site, and entertain your visitors as they browse through your store listings. Even get them to subscribe to your newsletter, so they keep returning to your eBay store again and again.

6. You don't take failure well

Unless you're a SEO and marketing guru, your store won't take off overnight. Give it some time to saturate the search engines, and generate positive sales leads for your business. I, too, make the same mistake at times concerning impatience, but we all need to relax and give our business ventures time to grow.

7. Your site lacks SEO

Most of your sales will come from search engine referrals, so you must SEO your site to bring in those hungry customers. Things like keyword rich title tags, keyword rich content, a clean design, and good navigation will help you rank high in the search engines. If you lack site building skills, then consider purchasing a ready-made eBay store system to complete all the grunt work for you.

8. Your Buyers are unhappy

Frankily, it's rather difficult to sell something if you have never been in the buyer's shoes before. Think about what products you would want to buy if the roles changed. Would you buy from a poorly designed, inactive looking store, or would you feel more comfortable buying from a well designed, optimized niche store? Figure out what the buyer wants, and give it to him or her.

9. Your Site Navigation is Poor

A lot of eBayers miss the key point. Your store navigation has to be exceptional. Most visitors will decide within 8 seconds or less whether or not your store sells the product they need. So stick to the basics, and make site navigation very easy. You want all type of visitors (teens, senior citizens, whatever) to be able to locate any and all your products. This tactic only will boost your gross sales.

10. You quit learning about the eBay business

You will never learn too much about making money on eBay. Read every book, magazine, blog, ezine, or whatever to digest as much information about eBay marketing as possible. The more you know, the more you can apply that knowledge to earnings more money in the long run.
